What We’re Looking for:

We’re seeking a motivated self-starter with strong writing and communication skills who excels in client relations and project management. This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, responsive, and comfortable working independently, with the ability to think strategically, solve problems creatively, and build meaningful relationships in a remote environment.

Hopdov is an HR Consulting Firm specializing in the hospitality industry. We offer comprehensive HR services to our clients, spanning the entire employee life cycle, from onboarding to offboarding. Hopdov provides advice and direct support on employee relations and workplace concerns, paired with proactive and progressive-based HR project work focused on helping our clients implement strong processes and systems that are essential for a solid HR foundation, as well as business growth. Hopdov specializes in compliance and provides hands-on HR support to owners and business operators in New England and beyond.

Position Overview:

The Human Resources Consultant will be responsible for running, managing, and overseeing a portfolio of Hopdov’s client relationships. The individual in this role will serve as the primary HR point of contact for their assigned clients and have responsibility for ensuring all client issues and questions are promptly addressed. The Human Resources Consultant will also be responsible for leading, overseeing, and ensuring completion of all HR project work for their assigned clients.

The Human Resources Consultant will provide comprehensive HR services, including hands-on support to clients in implementing, optimizing, and executing core human resources functions and processes across the employee life cycle. The individual in this role must function as a project manager for their assigned clients, overseeing and ensuring completion of all HR project work, as well as ensuring all client issues and/or questions are promptly addressed. While the individual in this position will collaborate with other Hopdov team members (which will include receiving assistance and guidance from others on the team as well as delegating some work to others on the team), the Human Resources Consultant will have ultimate responsibility and accountability for tracking and ensuring the needs and outlined objectives of their assigned clients are met fully, successfully, and to the satisfaction of each client.

Duties of the position will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Provide hands on training, assistance, and support to clients in implementing and optimizing HR processes spanning the entire employee life cycle
  • Provide advice, counsel, and support on employee relations and workplace matters that arise
  • Draft/revise employee handbooks and personnel policies, onboarding documents, offer letters, job descriptions, and other HR documents, materials, and correspondences
  • Draft and review disciplinary warnings
  • Advise clients on employee terminations and other employment actions
  • Investigate and address employee concerns, including but not limited to complaints involving discrimination/harassment
  • Advise on employee disabilities, accommodations, and leaves
  • Provide HR training to operators/managers on workplace policies, harassment prevention, performance management, and HR best practices
  • Provide in-person assistance and leadership with difficult or complex employee situations/meetings
  • Implement and facilitate performance management processes
  • Provide support, guidance, and facilitation around Employee Benefit implementation, administration, and requirements
  • Provide strategic and operational support to clients
  • Provide hands-on assistance and support with HRIS software builds and utilization
  • Perform and/or oversee some payroll processing and benefit administration work
  • Other duties as needed/assigned

Requirements:

The individual in this role must have significant, broad, and comprehensive HR knowledge and experience spanning across the entire employee life cycle (5+ years’ experience).

We are looking for a quick learner who works efficiently and proactively. The individual in this role must be a highly organized, detail-oriented, driven and a motivated self-starter who anticipates client and company needs and acts with a sense of urgency without waiting for others to tell them what to do.

The individual in this role must excel at client relations, have exceptional interpersonal skills, be responsive to client needs, and possess the ability to build meaningful and effective client relationships across a variety of different personalities. They must possess strong leadership skills and consistently demonstrate confidence and decisiveness. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, creative problem solver, and has a solution-oriented mindset. They must demonstrate sound judgement, act with discretion, and have a professional appearance and demeanor.

The individual in this role must excel at project management as well as clear written and verbal communication.

This is a full-time position. We are seeking candidates who live in or around the Greater Boston Area. This is a hybrid role that involves remote work from home as well as in-person client and team meetings when necessary/required. Work hours are primarily regular business hours, Mondays – Fridays, with occasional evening and weekend work.

Bonus Qualifications – not required but useful:

  • Restaurant/hospitality background;
  • Fluent in Spanish;
  • JD/background practicing employment law in MA

Salary range: $100,000 – $140,000 (depending on qualifications, skills, experience…)
